There was more damage. Seems like the sideways jolting of the car
yanked the rear shocks right off their moorings. They had to rig a
new upper mount to the inside of the trunk. This doesn't sit very
well with me, but there's no place I can go around here to get a
second or third opinion on what to do with a classic...
June 1999
First mishap. I'm still not sure if the edge of the
manhole cover got me, or if the tire was just weak and went, but first
I felt the passenger side rear tire go, and when the steering wheel was
torqued out of my grasp, I lost the passenger side front tire when it
bit the curb at about 30mph. There's probably also some collateral
damage to the suspension, but luckily there didn't appear to be any other
damage to the brakes or suspension...
