Kiger Mesteno Association

The Kiger Mesteño Association was founded in July 1988 to protect and preserve these remaining wild mustangs and their counterpart in captivity. A registry and standard of perfection have been established for Kiger and half-Kiger horses. With nearly 500 horses registered with the KMA, and growing interest in this exceptional breed, their continued survival is assured.

American Bashkir Curly Registry

The exact origin of the Bashkir Curly Horse is one of the greatest mysteries of the horse world.

Horses with curly coats are most certainly an ancient breed. They have been depicted in art and statuary in early China as far back as 161 AD. There has been evidence of their presence in South America and Europe.

Tiny, ancient horses found in Tibet

The tiny horse, only 4 feet tall, was discovered purely by chance, grazing in groups of two or three in the Riwoche Valley, an unexplored region in northeastern Tibet. The expedition, led by French anthropologist Michel Peissel to study another rare species of horse, had been forced to divert from it’s planned route due to bad weather.
