I went back to college to become a vet tech working with large animals so that I could work with horses. Their free spirit an wild nature is awe inspiring. Living in Nevada now also hightens my insight to the wild herd as well. Does anyone ever think that your not allowed to straf or herd cattle with a helo but they do it to the wild horse herd? Must be that they dont belong to anyone an no one is able to stand up for them on this issue.

Please note: As of October 2010, the CKMR has perminantly closed its doors. Anyone with a CKMR registered horse can apply with the AKHR or American Kiger Horse Registry for continued registration of their Kiger horse.

I live in Australia where there are many wild horses roaming our lands, though not indiginous, Brumbys they are called, just a left over from many interbred horses throughout the ages. I find it remarkable and commendable that the Kuntz family looks after a native breed so it can continue to flourish. What happened to the Government?
I wonder when Western Society will stop raping the planet for the all mighty doller and start looking after it's own backyard. Our forefathers on both sides of the world have all but destroyed the native people, its animals and their cultures and for what? I wonder what will happen to the horses and their grazing lands when the Kuntz family dies?

A great documentary about the "Last of the Spanish Mustangs" by Len J is another film that documents the illegal slaughter of horses.

Does your local ASPCA have the resources to rescue horses? I know in areas with livestock they are equipped to handle horses and cattle, so maybe that's an option near you, too.

I live in the Ruidoso area and we have a small herd of wild horses. They are not a problem in our area but we now have a injured yearling that is living on the side of a busy road. I am trying to get some kind of help for her. She is on private property and I have the blessings of the land owner to use his property in any way we need, I just can not seem to get any experienced people to help. I just need some advice on who I can contact. I have contacted a few of the so called mustang rescue groups and all I get is "well you can donate" or "she needs to be put down". I am a horse person and know a bit about horses and I can not believe that this filly needs to be put down. Any information you can give me would really be appreciated. Thank you and god bless.
